What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a system on natural medicine based on European
traditions. It primarily utilises practices such as herbal medicine,
homoeopathy and nutritional medicine to assist a range of health
conditions. It is also an excellent approach for maintaining
wellness. The main concepts underlying naturopathy are that the
person must be treated as a whole, including mental and emotional
connections to illness; that the body has the ability to heal itself
given the right conditions; and that patients should be empowered
with information and choice throughout the duration of their
treatment.
Infertility
Naturopathy can assist with many of the functional problems related
to difficulties with becoming pregnant. Problems such as polycystic
ovarian syndrome, ovulatory disorders, sperm production and hormonal
imbalances often respond well to herbal medicines and specialized
nutritional supplementation. There is an increasing volume of
scientific research supporting the use of naturopathic approaches to
fertility problems. In naturopathy, each patient is assessed and an
individual approach based on each unique case is designed.
Environmental factors in fertility
Exposure to environmental chemicals and pollutants can affect your
fertility by influencing body chemistry. Xenoestrogens, heavy metals
and other contaminants can disturb hormone balances and block your
body’s absorption and utilization of minerals and vitamins critical
to the reproductive process. This can affect things such as quality
and quantity of sperm production, ovulation, and hormonal balances
necessary to support implantation and pregnancy. Hair mineral
analysis is the most commonly used naturopathic diagnostic test for
environmental factors. Herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation
and homoeopathy can all be used to address any problems which have
been identified. These therapies can be used to assist your body to
safely reduce the amount of contaminants. Your body can then be
rebalanced using herbal medicine or nutritional supplementation
using an individually designed program to address your specific
needs.
IVF Support
Naturopathy can be safely and effectively used to support your IVF
treatment. It also perfectly complements any other supportive
treatment you may be undergoing, such as acupuncture, and will
contribute to an increased chance of you achieving a successful
pregnancy.
